Causes

Maci supports the following causes and urges you to consider doing so as well:

HDF mercy centreMercy Centre works to help the children and communities of the many slums of Bangkok. Together with their neighbors in the slums they create simple-but-progressive solutions that touch the lives of thousands of the poor every day. They build and operate schools, improve family health and welfare, protect street children’s rights, combat the AIDS crisis, respond to daily emergencies, and offer shelter to orphans, to street children, and to children and adults with AIDS – always together, hand in hand and heart to heart with the people they serve.

Special Note:  When you purchase the Butterfly Moon CD or tracks from the CD, 100% of the proceeds are donated to Mercy Centre to support their efforts to help the children.

Care

CARE is a leading humanitarian organization fighting global poverty. Through our community-based efforts focused on empowering women, we work to improve basic education, prevent the spread of disease, increase access to clean water and sanitation, expand economic opportunity and protect natural resources. CARE also delivers emergency aid to survivors of war and natural disasters.

This simple idea of giving families a source of food rather than short-term relief caught on and has continued for over 65 years. Today, millions of families in 128 countries have been given the gifts of self-reliance and hope.

Smile Train

Unlike many charities that do many different things, Smile Train is focused on solving a single problem: cleft lips and palates.

Clefts are a major problem in developing countries where there are millions of children who are suffering with unrepaired congenital defects. Most cannot eat or speak properly and aren't allowed to attend school or hold a job. They face very difficult lives filled with shame and isolation, pain and heartache.

Their clefts usually go untreated because they are poor – too poor to pay for a simple surgery that has been around for decades. The good news is every single child with a cleft can be helped with surgery that costs as little as $250.

Worldwide Orphans Foundation

The Worldwide Orphans Foundation strives to transform the lives of orphaned children and help them to become healthy, independent, productive members of their communities and the world.  By nurturing orphaned children with the love and attention that is every child's birthright, the WWO helps them to grow, learn, play and, ultimately, lead productive, dignified adult lives.

The WWO was founded in 1997 and addresses children’s physical and mental health, their education, and their ability to plan for and to achieve a life that is productive and fulfilling in their own countries and cultures.

Heifer Int'l

Heifer, Int'l envisions a world of communities living together in peace and equitably sharing the resources of a healthy planet. Their mission is to work with communities to end hunger and poverty and to care for the Earth.

To achieve this, Heifer's strategy is to “Pass on the Gift.” As people share their animals’ offspring with others – along with their knowledge, resources, and skills – an expanding network of hope, dignity, and self-reliance is created that reaches around the globe.

This simple idea of giving families a source of food rather than short-term relief caught on and has continued for over 65 years. Today, millions of families in 128 countries have been given the gifts of self-reliance and hope.

Habitat Int'lHabitat for Humanity, Int'l is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian ministry founded on the conviction that every man, woman and child should have a decent, safe and affordable place to live. They build with people in need regardless of race or religion and welcome volunteers and supporters from all backgrounds.
